How Many Kinds of Alarm Clocks Are There?

Who gets you up in the morning to get to work on time? Mom? Hardly, you moved away from home years ago, remember? Most people have alarm clocks to do the job that Mom used to do.
Some people have several of these clocks because they are heavy sleepers or because they are afraid one will not work.
There are so many different choices when looking at a alarm clock that it can be confusing.
You can get one with a radio and CD player, or even a little TV on the front, but will it wake you up? You can get one of those alarm clocks that have the laser time that you can shoot across the room or onto the ceiling; just in case you can not see the huge green digital LED numbers sprawled across the front of the clock that is no more than a foot away from your face while you are in bed.
However, the lights might keep you awake at night long enough that the alarm won't wake you in the morning.
Some people use some unconventional alarm clocks, like their cell phones.
Many cell phones have several different settings for alarms.
You can set a reminder alarm or even a snooze alarm on your cell phone.
But how good are your eyes at 5:30AM when your clock goes off? Are you going to be able to find your cell phone? And even if you can, will you be able to find the right button to turn the alarm off before it wakes the neighbors? There are also those traditional alarm clocks with the analog face and the two bells on top that are hit repeatedly with a hammer to wake you up.
Now these are loud alarms and really will wake up everybody in the house.
If you are a heavy sleeper, the traditional alarm clock might be just what you need.
But these alarm clocks are also very primitive when it comes to functions and features.
You'll have to wind it up every day and set it every night, otherwise it won't go off at all and you will be late for work.
These dinosaur clocks make great back-ups, though.
So what kind of alarm clock should you look for? Well, that is really entirely up to you.
It will depend on your tastes, how you sleep, how you wake up, what will wake you up, and how much of a clock you can afford.
How much time do you spend in your room? Do you use your bedroom for more than just sleep? Do you sometimes relax in your room with a good book, or retreat to your room to get away for a little while? Do you enjoy long bubble baths in your room? You might want a CD player clock so that you can have some relaxing music while you do your other things in your room.
If you do not spend much time in your room other than to sleep, you probably do not need all the expensive bells and whistles that the newer alarm clocks have to offer, but that does not mean you won't want them.
Some alarm clocks are so cool that people are buying them for their living rooms and other rooms in the house.
You might want one of these just because it is ultra cool or very sophisticated or just plain fun.
That is okay, as long as it wakes you up, too.
