Finding Alameda County Divorce Records

Formed in 1853, Alameda County is located in the US state of California. It is the seventh largest and one of the most populous counties in the state. It has a total area of 821 square miles and a population well over 1,443,741 people. The counties surrounding it are Santa Clara to the south, San Mateo to the west, Contra Costa and San Joaquin County are to the north and east, respectively.

All Alameda County divorce records are maintained by the County's local government agency. The agency keeps all the divorce records open for public access. You can easily get information on any individual by just visiting the office. You can search through the records by browsing through the files. These records contain information such as the the date of divorce, the reason for obtaining divorce and the personal information of individual – concerning name, age, residence address and profession.

The Alameda clerk- recorder's office is located at 1106 Madison Street, Oakland. The office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday. You can come to the clerk- recorders office during business hours and search the document indices.

All public records dating back to 1853 can be found by going through the documents alphabetically by names of parties. The processing time is approximately 2 weeks from the receipt of the application. You can also request divorce record through telephone or Internet. The fee charged to search for the copy of the record must be paid in advance. This fee is non- refundable even if the required document is not found. No additional shipping charges have to be paid. An additional $2 non- refundable fee is charged for online requests.

You will be required to present a government approved ID card (driver's license or passport) before you can search the divorce records.
