How to Train for ICBC
- 1). Register with an approved driving school through the ICBC website. The instructors have additional training and are the only ones certified to teach an ICBC-approved course.
- 2). Attend class to complete 16 hours of instruction within 365 days but in not fewer than 14 days.
- 3). Complete 12 hours of individual on-the-road training with a certified instructor. Make sure the time is logged appropriately.
- 4). Spend an additional four hours in the instruction mode of your choice either in the classroom or in a vehicle. This will complete the required 32 hours of instruction.
- 5). Study for and pass your midterm and final assessments. In order to receive a passing score and receive a certificate of completion you must achieve a satisfactory mark on all of the 14 core competencies and score at least 20 out of 25 on the exit competencies.
- 6). Submit your declaration of completion form to your secondary school's administration office to receive high school credit. Obtaining the declaration moves you from the learner stage to the novice stage.
