How to Train for ICBC

1). Register with an approved driving school through the ICBC website. The instructors have additional training and are the only ones certified to teach an ICBC-approved course.
2). Attend class to complete 16 hours of instruction within 365 days but in not fewer than 14 days.
3). Complete 12 hours of individual on-the-road training with a certified instructor. Make sure the time is logged appropriately.
4). Spend an additional four hours in the instruction mode of your choice either in the classroom or in a vehicle. This will complete the required 32 hours of instruction.
5). Study for and pass your midterm and final assessments. In order to receive a passing score and receive a certificate of completion you must achieve a satisfactory mark on all of the 14 core competencies and score at least 20 out of 25 on the exit competencies.
6). Submit your declaration of completion form to your secondary school's administration office to receive high school credit. Obtaining the declaration moves you from the learner stage to the novice stage.
