Car bras, also called masks, are made of fabric that fits tightly over the front end of car to prevent damage from rocks, insects or other objects encountered along the roadway. Covercraft Industries makes bras for more than 3,000 models of U.S. and foreign cars, trucks and vans through it Colgan Custom Manufacturing subsidiary. - Colgan car bras are made with 25 oz., 100 percent virgin vinyl. The fabric is resistant to ultraviolet light to prevent cracking and aging. The backing is made of thick flannel to prevent scratching of the vehicle's paint. The flannel also wicks away moisture to prevent mold and mildew.
- Colgan car bras allow the hood to be opened without removing the bra. The flannel backing is attached to the vinyl through a proprietary process to prevent separation and deterioration. The bra is double padded along the fenders. Some bras come in two pieces and also include a screen that covers the grille.
- Colgan bindings and attachments are made of or covered with felt, flannel or flexible vinyl to prevent scratching. The S-hooks for the bungee cords that hold the bra in place are coated with vinyl to protect the car's surface.
- Colgan car bras come with a three-year warranty.
- The price of a Colgan car bra depends on the vehicle. For example, a bra for a 2010 Toyota Corolla XRS cost $145.40 in November 2010. A bra for a 2002 Honda Odyssey EX van cost $207.50. Delivery takes eight to 10 weeks. Bras can be ordered through Colgan's website or through its authorized dealers.
