How to Turn on ATI Crossfire in Ubuntu
- 1). Click the Ubuntu symbol in the upper left corner of your desktop and enter "Synaptic Package Manager" in the search bar. When it comes up underneath, click it.
- 2). Click the "Settings" menu and "Repositories." Check the box labeled "Community Open-Source Software (Universe.)" Press the "Close" button in the repositories window and the "Reload" button in the Synaptic Package Manager.
- 3). Search for "Crossfire" in the search bar. Click the checkbox next to the Crossfire options you want to install to mark them for installation. You at least need a client. Different versions may work better with your specific ATI Crossfire model, so you may want to experiment with different clients while you play your game to see which works best.
- 4). Push the "Apply" button to apply all of the changes you made. Allow the Crossfire clients to install. Close the Synaptic Package Manager.
- 5). Hold <alt> and press <F2>. Run the command for the client you downloaded. For the GTK2 client it is "gcfclient2;" for the GTK client it is "gcfclient;" for the X11 client, it is "cfclient." Do not use quotation marks or punctuation in the command. Run your game.
