How to Repair Rotting Deck on My Wilkes Above Ground Pool

    • 1). Inspect the pool deck for extreme cases of wood rot. It may be necessary to examine underneath the deck for spots where rot has exceeded the threshold of repair.

    • 2). Remove nails or screws that have popped out of their sockets due to wood rot. Replace the nails or screws with longer or wider screws that will reinforce the planks of the deck. The length of screws or nails will vary based on the wood size.

    • 3). Pressure wash the deck with a 10:1 solution of water to detergent or trisodium phosphate cleanser. Make sure you use a pressure washer that delivers no more than 12,000 pounds per square inch of pressure, or you will run the risk of eroding the pool deck further. Allow three days or longer for the deck to completely dry.

    • 4). Apply two coats of water sealant to the deck. Use a short-nap paint roller to apply the sealer in evenly distributed coats.
